We are only 11 days into 2008 and already it's started off with a bang. Britney finally got committed (if only for a day or two), Obama won the democratic primary in Iowa (although he lost Super Tuesday to Hilary), and I've managed to get through three full eight hour shifts at work without getting seriously ill and feeling like I'm going to die. Things are already looking up.
I was going to write about all the above shit, but somehow I always find an excuse not to. I'm just so fucking lazy. I would have made a new year's resolution to stop being lazy in 2008, but I was too lazy to do that, so you know...
Anyway, joined last.fm recently and I must say I have weird taste in music and speaking of music, there is a music themed meme below that I got from Kayleigh. I was bored so I thought I'd try it.
The Lyrics Meme!
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly (No lyric hunting! That is cheating!)
1. These are my confessions. Just when I thought I could say all I could say, my chick on the side says she's got one on the way. These are my confessions.
2. I'm holding onto your rope, got me ten feet off the ground. And I'm hearing what you say, but I just can't make a sound.
3. Some boy you are to take me by the hand. Through an elevator, got a little red light that tells you, boy, where the razor's been.
4. You simply defy, I cannot even move through the sky. We try it single file; take on me, hate is my denial.
5. Notice me, take my hand. Why are we strangers when our love is strong, Why carry on without me.
6. If you're looking for me I'll be on the block with my thing cocked back possibly sitting on a drop now. Because I'm a rider.
7. So if you're lonely you know I'm here waiting for you. I'm just a crosshair; I'm just a shot way from you.
8. I'll leave it all up to you girl, I'm I hitting it tonight? I'm gonna leave it all up to you girl, you're gonna break the ice.
9. Saturday night and my head is spinning. I wondered whose heart I've been sinning for.
10. It's Britney, bitch. Every time they turn the lights down, just want to go that extra mile for you. Public display of affection, feels like no one else in the room.
11. I've been gone for a minute now I'm back with the jump off. Goons in the club case somethin' jumps off.
12. I dig my toes into the sand. The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket.
13. Who could be the boss, look up to the cross stranded in the land of the lost?
14. I gotta ask myself what's it gonna be, babe. Am I gonna save myself, what's it gonna be?
15. Listen to me. I've been around the world, seen a million honeys. Been with special girls. Gave up my time and money.
16. Little blue mailbox, wonder if you'll have the next letter. Little blue mailbox, wonder if you'll ever make me feel better.
17. Tell me what kind of girl would want to play me. Tear me down and try to break me. Baby how could you betray me after all I've done for you.
18. I'm telling you to loosen up my buttons babe. But you keep frontin'. Sayin' what you gonna do to me, but I ain't seen nothin'.
19. The night I laid eyes on you. Felt everything around me move. Got nervous when you looked my way, but you knew all the words to say.
20. 6'oclock in the morning. My head is ready to explode. I can't believe I made it home alive. I don't remember where I went or what I was drinking. I know it made me sick and I'm not denying that I get this way when I try to get over you.
You know, it's weird living next to a highschool. We can hear everything that's going on over there including their Friday night vasity football games. For the longest time I had no idea what "Friday Night Lights" meant in football (don't laugh! I know baseball, the thinking man's sport), but now I know. It's kinda cool actually. All those people cheering on their team with the marching band playing and the cheerleaders... cheerleading. It's a comforting sound... strange really.
Anyway, I snagged this from Jen and decided to fill it out. It's been forever since I posted any blog questions.

1. Do you have a favorite piece of poetry or prose written by someone else? Care to share it?
As bazaar as this may sound, I don't have a favorite piece of poetry. There are many songs that I think have wonderfully poetic lyrics, but I can't think of any off the top of my head right now... sorry.
2. In High School, did you enjoy creative writing? Do you currently do any other writing in addition to your blog?
Dude, that was like my thing in school. I was so depressed most of the time that I would write these totally complex and morose poems that no one could understand. That was when I first started writing poetry (as I had avoided it for years because my mother was a well known poet in the LBC and I didn't want to be anything like her), but as I got into my groove, I started to write more truthfully which wasn't always dark and foreboding. I won tons of writing contests and even got published. I haven't written a poem in years, though. My blog is pretty much my writing outlet now.
3. Have you ever noticed that the Blog entries you least expect to get the most comments do, and those you expect to generate a lot of feedback don't? Which Blog entry of yours surprised you by getting a lot of comments? Which one did you think would generate a lot but didn't?
Considering that I don't get many comments anymore, I can't really speak to the present, but back in the day that has happened to me. I will say that recently the post titled The Rules of Attraction didn't get any comments. I was surprised. I thought I would at least get some hate comments out of that.
4. Sometimes you get a chance to make a lifestyle change that has a huge impact on the course your life takes. That is, a moment where something became very clear to you and that realization changed your life, such as: the need to leave a relationship, to stop an addiction, to bond with someone, to start a new career, and so on. Have you ever had an "awakening" moment in your life?
I think everyone has one of those moments. Some times they are too clueless to recognize it, but it happens to all of us. I think I've chronicled my many "awakening" moments in this blog with detail; mainly my struggle with the decision to continue taking anti-depressants. Parts of that realization hurt very much--I don't want to be flawed as much as I am, but I am proud of myself for understanding that I can't live this life without some help. Sometimes it makes me feel weak, but I am better for it.
5. Then there are other times where you can have a huge impact on someone else's life. You suggest they see a doctor, stop them from taking that last drink, or maybe just say some kind words at the moment. Have you made a lasting positive impact on the life of someone else?
I don't recall a time where I've ever had that kind of impact on someone. I just don't think I have it in me to be that altruistic.
6. Are there any charities or organizations which you support? How did you come to be involved with them?
If donating to Public Television counts... then yes.
7. Care to collaborate with me? Help me out and write the rest of this
poem:
I drifted though a dream last night,
visions full of colors bright.
My thoughts began to drift to you,
and in an instant we were two.
I touched your hand,
We began to blend,
Filled with a feeling
that should have no end.
It is not just thought that draws you here.
Nor rivers of desire that flow so clear.
It is the depth of our love, at one with the night.
It is vast in its darkness, ascended in flight.
We beckon our lust which falls like tears.
Demanding our blood... our souls... our fears.
We gladly give in, our bodies entwined.
The power engulfs us, raging and blind.
To all that we are, our innocence lost.
I have no regrets...
It was well worth the cost.
I have to say that in recent weeks, I've become a bit obsessed with blog questions. I guess it's easier and faster than having to sit and actually think up something to write that's introspective and entertaining at the same time. I think I am failing miserably at the entertaining part (the lack of comments and hits are proof of that), but then again, I think I'd lost track of what this blog was about anyway. I am not doing this to impress people, but to force the poison blood from my veins and try to heal myself. I am not as arrogant as to presume that I ooze profound pearl-like droplets of wisdom everytime I write--far from it, but like I said, this blog is supposed to be for me to vent and get my darkness out. It is not the cure, but it helps me curb the urge to shake loose this mortal coil. And that my readers, is all I can ask for. So expect a hell of a lot of entries comprised of stupid questions that I answer with glee. As teeny-bopper and silly as they may seem, they are subtle windows to the soul and will reveal much more of me than you might think.
